Van Oossanen Naval Architects is happy to announce the new build of a 50m motor yacht named Project NOVA by Heesen yachts.
Van Oossanen is responsible for the complete naval architecture. Following the concept of 65m Galactica Star, launched by Heesen yachts in 2012, the innovative design combines the speed capabilities of Van Oossanen’s Fast Displacement Hull with more comfort and space. However, the main focus of 500GT Project NOVA is on fuel efficiency.
The Fast Displacement Hull is constructed in lightweight aluminium and combined with relatively small engines and detailed attention for weight control. Tests at the Wolfson Unit’s test facilities in Southampton showed impressive results: at cruising speed the fuel consumption is 125 liters per hour and at 10 knots 85 liters per hour, which makes Project NOVA the most efficient vessel in her class.
Space is created for twelve guests in 2-person cabins, including a Master suite and VIP suite with a spacious private bathtub. The exterior design, by Omega architects, combines performance with elegance with a vertical bow and spacious fixed aft platform. The vertical bow also serves to reduce the vertical accelerations that cause discomfort for guests.
Fast, spacious and with reduced environmental impact, Project NOVA will be ready for the future. The project is planned to be built in the coming two years.
