On June 9th, a new 16.5M Lemsteraak was delivered to her happy owners who asked for a re-shaped interior space and optimized sailing performance. Already being built several years ago – not to a Van Oossanen concept-, the hull did not meet the new owner’s wishes for standing height, optimal sailing performance and ultra-silent cruising.
Van Oossanen was involved in the project to meet this client’s wishes, with The Workumer Yacht Service being assigned to finish off with a very high quality standard. We improved the construction, increasing the standing height with more than 10 cm and developed a new sailing plan, with optimized appendages including the rudder and leeboards.
A hybrid propulsion was applied to allow the yacht to sail on electrical power for several hours. Due to an excellent sound isolation, the diesel engine runs very quiet. This Silent Sailing on engines allows the new owners to experience the Dutch Inland waters at its best!
