Storm Yachts X-53F

In 2011 we started the Naval Architecture work for the new Storm series. The first yacht of this new series is the Storm X53F. This yacht is designed to sail on both inland and coastal waters. The draft and beam of the yacht were chosen in such a way that the yacht can sail the French canals as well. The yacht is built from aluminium and the hull is based on our patented Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF).  The yacht is equipped with conventional shaft lines and two Perkins engines. This allows the yacht to sail at a speed of 16 knots, the semi-displacement regime. At lower speeds the FDHF hull allows the yacht to sail fuel efficient and comfortable. In order to increase the comfort on board a Seakeeper gyro is installed to limit the heeling angles. The hull lines and appendages are aligned using our Computational Fluid Dynamics code. The first yacht of this new series will be delivered at the end of 2013.
