Benefits for yards and owner
For both the builder and the owner, the low resistance and high performance of the Fast Displacement Hull Form offer interesting benefits. The main advantage for the builder is the lower installed power for a given speed. This translates directly into lower building costs. For a semi-custom series featuring the same hull, the benefits are even more significant as one hull form can be used for different speed ranges.
The advantages for the owner are less operational costs thanks to a lighter fuel consumption and greater sailing comfort. Moreover, there is more space in the hull as less bunker capacity is required. Noise and vibrations are reduced by smaller installed propulsion power.
In addition, the yacht will be comfortable at all speeds. The traditional ‘resistance hump’ of which especially hard chine yachts suffer from when changing from displacement to semi-displacement speeds, is dissolved.
