The Guardian 65 is designed for a top speed of 30 knots, and a comfortable cruising speed of 20 knots.
The styling was done by Rene van der Velden Design.
The Guardian 65 has a hard chine, deep vee hull for superior speed, fuel efficiency and range. The propellers are placed inside tunnels to give the yacht a relatively shallow draft while retaining very high propulsive efficiencies. The hull was tested at the MARIN towing tank, which confirmed the resistance and propulsion calculations previously performed. The GRP sandwich construction is built by use of the vacuum resin infusion process, making optimum use of the material properties of the Glass-Epoxy laminates.
Van Oossanen Naval Architects did the following work for the Guardian 65:
- Preliminary Design
- Hull form development and model tests
- Scantling Calculations and construction plan
- Weight calculations
- Stability calculations
- Resistance and propulsion calculations and propeller selection
