The scope of this project concerned a complete design review of a 40m Fisheries Protection Vessel, with special attention for the propulsion system (triple engines with two wing propellers and a central loitering-booster waterjet) and hydrodynamic performance.

A full review of the hull design and resistance and propulsion characteristics resulted in a number of recommendations. We were asked to design an alternative hull form, incorporating the recommendations, and were able to increase the top speed of the vessel significantly by 4 knots. The new design was then tested at the Krylov Institute and confirmed our resistance prediction within a few percent.
